Articles Field Pro 5.0.4 is a Joomla plugin that extends custom fields by allowing one article to reference other articles. Editors can choose related content from a filtered list and display the selected article titles as links on the frontend. The Pro version adds more filtering options, including tags, authors and values from other custom fields, and can also show reverse relationships between articles through a related-articles field.
The plugin is useful when Joomla content needs relationships that go beyond a simple text or list field. Instead of storing a plain value, the field can point to existing articles, making it easier to connect products, documentation, profiles or other related content.
Administrators decide which articles are available for selection by applying filters. Category filtering can narrow the list, while the Pro version adds filters based on tags, authors and other custom-field values.
Selected article titles can be shown as links on the frontend. Additional custom-field information from the related article can also be displayed when the layout needs more context than the title alone.
The Pro version includes a Show Related Articles field that works in the opposite direction. It can list articles that selected the current article in another Articles Field, which makes two-way relationships easier to present without maintaining both sides manually.
Usually built-in fields in Joomla handle values as plain text, without the ability to link to other materials. In contrast, Articles Field allows you to create a custom field, through which you can select articles from a given list - based on specified filters - and thus establish links between different materials.
As a result, the page displays a list of related article titles. These titles can be presented as hyperlinks and, if necessary, accompanied by additional information from other customizable fields.
You decide which articles will be available for selection in the custom field - for example, you can filter by category. In the Pro version, advanced filters are available: by tags, authors, and even values of other customizable fields.
In addition, the Pro version provides an additional field type - "Show Related Articles", which displays in the current material all articles where this material was selected in other instances of the Articles Field. This allows you to visually display mutual links between articles.
