Each user can be assigned an IP address and optional secret URL key through the Joomla administrator. When a visitor connects from a matching address, IP Login can authenticate the account automatically without requiring the usual username and password form. Secret URL keys provide another way to trigger automatic login when IP-based access is not suitable.
The PRO version extends this functionality with support for IP lists and IP ranges, including IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. Multiple login setups can be created for the same user, and notes can be added to make larger configurations easier to manage. Referrer IP matching is also available when login rules need to depend on the address of another system or service.
IP Login can be useful for private administration access, internal websites, trusted office networks or other situations where selected users need faster access to a Joomla site. Because login rules can be limited to specific areas, automatic authentication can be used only where it is actually needed.
Version 7.0.3 improves the shared Regular Labs installation lock so it is created only during extension installations. The update also fixes Download Key prompts and fields in the PRO version so they follow administrator permissions correctly, and resolves an issue that could prevent the extension from loading in some cases.
