JoomMap 5.0 is a Joomla component for creating map-based directories and location catalogs with Google Maps. Administrators can create multiple maps, add several locations to each map and organize locations by type, while visitors can search and filter the available entries. Custom fields, marker options and geocoding provide additional structure for projects such as store locators, service directories and other location-based Joomla websites.
Locations can be grouped into different types so a single map or directory can contain several categories of places. Each entry can include additional information through custom fields when the standard location data is not sufficient.
The component includes a collection of marker icons for distinguishing locations visually. Administrators can also create multiple maps when separate sets of places should not appear in the same view.
Google Maps API integration provides the map display, while the geocoder can determine latitude and longitude from location information. Zoom and map-dragging controls are available for visitors using the map.
Search and filtering help users find relevant locations in larger directories. JoomMap can therefore be used as the basis for store locators, branch listings and other Joomla projects where content is organized around geographic points.
