Aimy Canonical Pro 35.0 is a Joomla plugin for generating canonical link tags and controlling which URL version should be treated as preferred. It can set a preferred domain and protocol, define custom canonical paths for articles, categories, tags and menu items, and clean unwanted query parameters. The Pro version also provides controls for pagination parameters, trailing slashes, path case and redirects when a requested URL does not match the canonical form.
Canonical tags are useful when the same Joomla content can be reached through more than one URL. The plugin creates the canonical reference and provides rules for normalizing common URL differences without requiring each page to be edited manually.
Custom paths can be assigned to individual articles, categories, tags and menu items. The protocol and domain can also be overridden where a specific item needs different settings from the site-wide configuration.
Query-string handling includes removing or cleaning parameters and retaining pagination parameters when they are required for paginated pages. Options are also available for trailing slashes, removing /index.php and changing path letter case.
The Pro edition can redirect requests when the protocol, domain, path or query string differs from the configured canonical URL. The current Aimy Canonical product line supports Joomla 3, 4, 5 and 6.
