Ajax Live Search for VirtueMart 1.0.5 is a Joomla module that adds real-time product search to a VirtueMart store. As a visitor types, the module can return matching products, categories and manufacturers without requiring a full page reload. Search results can include product images, prices and descriptions, while administrators can define the minimum number of characters, the number of results and the amount of text shown for each item.
The live-search approach helps visitors reach relevant store items before completing a full search form. Results are updated as characters are entered, which is useful on VirtueMart stores with larger product catalogs.
Administrators can choose how many matches are displayed and how many characters a visitor must enter before the search begins. Title and description length can also be limited so the result panel remains compact.
Product images, prices and descriptive text can be shown in the results when those elements are useful for identifying an item. Categories and manufacturers can also be included, giving visitors more than one way to reach the part of the catalog they need.
Appearance settings include dimensions, colors and font-related options. These controls allow the search panel to be adjusted to the Joomla template without changing the underlying VirtueMart product information.
