Geek Elasticsearch 5.3.0 is a Joomla search and filtering component built around Elasticsearch for sites with larger amounts of searchable data. It provides real-time search and filters by categories, content types, custom fields and authors, with additional location-based searching. Integrations are available for supported third-party components including AdsManager, VirtueMart and JReviews.
The component uses Elasticsearch to index and search content outside the normal Joomla database-search workflow. This is intended to improve search responsiveness when a site contains a larger set of records or needs more detailed filtering.
Visitors can narrow results by category, content type, custom fields or author. Location-based searching is also available when stored content includes geographic information.
Support for AdsManager, VirtueMart and JReviews allows data from those extensions to participate in the search interface. This makes it possible to use one search system across several types of Joomla content.
Advanced search settings provide control over how queries and filters are presented. Geek Elasticsearch is therefore aimed at Joomla sites where the standard search experience is not sufficient for the amount or structure of available content.
