MightySites 5.6.1 is a Joomla multisite component from AlterBrains for running several Joomla websites from one hosting environment and sharing selected database data between them. Sites can use common or separate database tables, share Joomla users and provide a common sign-in workflow while still using different templates and designs. The component can also copy an existing Joomla site when a new related site needs to be created.
One use case is hosting several Joomla sites under the same account while keeping each site visually independent. Templates and front-end design can differ even when some of the underlying data is shared.
Database tables can be shared between selected sites when the same information needs to remain synchronized. Alternatively, individual sites can keep separate tables when their content should remain independent.
User accounts can also be shared, allowing the same account data to be used across several Joomla installations. The extension includes support for shared data from integrations such as Community Builder and JomSocial where configured.
MightySites can also copy an existing site to create another installation. This is useful when several related Joomla websites need to start from a common structure but later use different content, templates or domain names.
It does not require hacking the core Joomla! files, and the core system files have been patched to provide this kind of functionality.*
With this tool, you can use database content and users (with Community Builder and JomSocial support) from different websites.
You can have multiple Joomla! websites using the same hosting account, with the same users and JomSocial content, but with different templates and designs.
It is also possible to easily copy your current website to another without having to create a new hosting account!
MightySites is used for two main purposes:
1. Running multiple Joomla websites from a single hosting account (using common database files and tables or separate tables for each site).
2. Sharing database data between multiple sites (multiple sites can use the same database tables, ensuring they are consistent across sites).
