ochResponsiveImages 2.0.2 is a Joomla plugin for generating responsive image variants and serving them through the HTML srcset attribute. Administrators define breakpoints for different screen sizes, and the plugin creates and caches matching image files. It can also convert images to WebP and add decoding and width or height attributes to help browsers reserve the correct page space.
Instead of sending the same large image to every visitor, the plugin prepares several sizes. The browser then selects the most suitable file from the generated srcset according to the device and available display width.
Generated images are cached, so they do not need to be rebuilt on every page request. This is particularly useful on sites with many article images or layouts that are viewed on both desktop and mobile screens.
WebP conversion is available for reducing image file size where the format is supported. The plugin can also add image dimensions and decoding attributes, which helps the browser calculate layout space before the image finishes loading.
